When you're preparing for a new baby, there are already so many things to think about. Booking your baby's first professional photos should be exciting—not confusing. That's why I've designed my newborn photography packages to be simple, transparent, and completely stress-free.

A Relaxed, Baby-Led Experience

Every newborn session takes place in my warm and welcoming home studio in Mackworth, Derby. Sessions are ideally booked when your baby is between 7 and 21 days old, when they're naturally sleepy and easier to pose comfortably. However, if your baby is already a little older, don't worry—I photograph newborns up to around 10 weeks old, adapting the session to suit their age and personality.

Each session is completely baby-led. We allow plenty of time for feeding, cuddles, nappy changes, and settling your little one, so there's never any rush.

Beautiful Props, Wraps and Outfits Included

One of the biggest advantages of booking with MHB Photography is that everything is provided for you.

There's no need to buy special outfits or bring baskets and blankets from home unless you'd like to include something sentimental. You'll have access to a carefully selected collection of:

After your session, you'll receive a password-protected online gallery within around 48 hours, where you can choose your favourite photographs. Once you've made your selection, each image is carefully hand-edited before being delivered digitally.

Unlike many photographers, my packages are all-inclusive, so you'll know exactly how many edited images are included before you book.

Family and Sibling Photos

Your newborn photoshoot isn't just about your baby—it's about celebrating your growing family.

Parents and siblings are very welcome to be included in your session at no extra cost. These photographs often become the most treasured images because they capture those first precious connections.

I usually photograph family portraits at the beginning of the session before older siblings head off with Dad for a walk or some fresh air while we continue photographing your baby.

Safety Always Comes First

Your baby's comfort and safety are my highest priorities.

Every pose is done gently and safely, following your baby's lead throughout the session. If your little one isn't comfortable with a particular pose, we'll simply move on to something else.

Creating beautiful photographs should never come at the expense of your baby's wellbeing, and every session is planned with this in mind.

When Should You Book?

Because newborn sessions are best photographed during the first few weeks of life, I recommend booking after your 20-week pregnancy scan to secure your place in my diary.

Don't worry if your baby arrives earlier or later than expected. I always leave flexibility in my schedule so we can move your appointment if needed.
